Getting there
Golden Gate Ferry sails to Angel Island from the San Francisco Ferry Building on a limited schedule; the times on this page come from its published data. Service can be seasonal, so check the board and Golden Gate Ferry before you plan the day.
From Marin, the private Angel Island–Tiburon Ferry makes the short crossing from Tiburon.
On the island
A road of about 5 miles circles the island, with views of the Golden Gate, the city and Mount Tamalpais. Walkers and cyclists both use it. Hikers can climb to the summit of Mount Livermore.
On the north side, the Angel Island Immigration Station tells the story of the immigrants, many from China, who were held there between 1910 and 1940. See Angel Island State Park for opening hours.
Plan around the last boat
Boats back are few, and missing the last one means a very long day. Note the last departure from Angel Island before you start walking.
