How to pay

  • Clipper: the Bay Area transit card, on your phone (Apple Pay, Google Pay) or as a plastic card. Tag on when you board. clippercard.com
  • Operator apps and ticket machines: both operators sell tickets for their own boats.
  • Ferry vs BART: between Oakland and San Francisco the ferry costs about the same as BART and a little less than the Transbay bus, according to SF Bay Ferry. BART is faster; the ferry is the better ride.
