Ferry to Sausalito from San Francisco
Sausalito sits just across the Golden Gate from San Francisco. The ferry is the easy way there: no bridge traffic, no parking, and the best views of the city skyline on the way back.

Getting there
Golden Gate Ferry runs from the San Francisco Ferry Building to the Sausalito Ferry Landing, at Humboldt and Anchor Streets on the town's waterfront. It's the only Sausalito ferry right now: Blue & Gold Fleet suspended its Sausalito service on May 3, 2026 while Pier 41 is cleaned up. The times and ride length on this page come from Golden Gate Ferry's published schedule.
One way costs $8.50 for adults with Clipper or a contactless bank card, or $14 with a paper ticket from the terminal machines (Golden Gate Ferry fares, checked September 28, 2026). More about Golden Gate Ferry.
Bike over, ferry back
A popular loop is to bike across the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito and take the ferry back to San Francisco. On sunny weekends many riders do the same, so arrive early for the boat you want and check the last boat of the day before you set off.
In Sausalito
Walk Bridgeway along the water, head north to see the houseboat communities, or sit with a coffee and watch the boats. Everything near the landing is walkable.
